Earth Day

Today is International Earth Day. In 1969, horrified by the Santa Barbara oil spill and growing environmental degradation, US senator Gaylord Nelson called for an international day to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the earth. The following year, Earth Day was launched, marking the beginning of the modern environmental movement. In the magical tradition it's Earth Spirit Day, when witches perform earth healing rituals and work with the elementals of the land.
