On the shelf
Monday December 1, 2008
This week I finally saw Seven Sacred Sites on a bookshop shelf, which was very exciting! Although it's been available in shops in WA and SA for a while, as well as online, it's just begun its Sydney adventures :-)
It was in Better Read Than Dead, a very cool local bookstore in Newtown. And when I saw it for the first time it was so surreal. I was so excited and overwhelmed, and had a tiny happy tear, of pride and relief and sheer joy. There were three copies in the travel section, with their spines facing out and the little bee showing, and it was the nicest feeling in the world, after all the hard work and the battles to get it out, to see it there on the shelf.
Then, as I waited for my cute husbee, I browsed the shelves of the spiritual books, and there it was again! Two copies, cover facing out, and next to Paulo Coelho's book no less! It made it all seem so real. And worth every minute of getting it out into the world...
The world of blogging
Sunday December 7, 2008
I’m just getting the hang of this blogging thing, but a sweet girl from Sydney does it well - and not just because she wrote about my book :-)
I met Cynthia at Lucy Cavendish’s Beltane celebration at Adyar bookstore, and a few days later she came and hung out with us at the Mind Body Spirit festival.
Her blog is at: chrysalidic.blogspot.com, and she writes beautifully about the beauty of nature and the power of the earth.
Lucy also wrote beautiful things about my book on her website: www.lucycavendish.com. “I wanted to let you know about my friend Serene Conneeley’s book, Seven Sacred Sites. Serene and I, along with Rachelle Charman, the crystal healer, travelled to Glastonbury together almost four years ago now... best girlfriend journey ever, due to these wonderful companions! Now this book has been birthed out of Serene’s many, many sacred journeys. I wish I’d had it in my hands years ago, when I was stumbling along my path and travelling (meandering? wandering? getting fatefully lost?) throughout the world. but here it is now, and it’s a rich and lovely, very wise and tender friend and companion, with good advice and lovely insights and lots to share and inspire you in your travels, be they physical or of the imaginary kind. She’s a beautiful writer, and a dear friend, and I’d love you to consider gifting yourselves with a copy this Solstice...”

Testimonials

I’ve had such beautiful feedback from people who have read my book, which has made all the struggles to get it out so worthwhile. Here are a few comments – let me know what you think at SevenSacredSites@yahoo.com.au... You can read the testimonials here.

Website relaunched!
Wednesday December 17, 2008
Check out the new and improved website at www.SevenSacredSites.com.au.
It was always my intention to have a “real” website, and this iMac one I created from home was an interim measure – which I do love, by the way, and will continue to update. My gorgeous friend Andrew (www.andrewstopps.com), who let me practise my Reconnective healing techniques on him, reworked the site with his artistic fiance Sean, so now I have a proper web home, with a proper “buy now” button :-) I’ll still add my news and updates here, and post any media stories, but this will become the personal page, while www.SevenSacredSites.com.au will be my “professional” face :-)

Seven Sacred Sites in Egypt
Tuesday December 23, 2008
Wow, this book is going global! First it went back to the Chalice Well, to the place it all started, and now my gorgeous friend Nolita has taken it on an adventure from Ireland to Egypt, to visit the pyramids and the amazing temples along the Nile. The book will soon be as well travelled as me!

National press
Monday December 29, 2008
Today a story came out in New Idea magazine, a national women’s mag with a readership of more than two million people. Very exciting! It’s an extract from the book, with some of my photos, and the travel editor did an amazing job to distill the essence of each place in just a few sentences (perhaps I should have got her to edit the book! :-) You can read the story here.
