Monday September 21, 2009 "Gratitude is the most exquisite form of courtesy." Today is World Gratitude Day, dedicated to promoting the cause of world-wide gratitude. It was founded by The United Nations Meditation Group in 1977, and encourages people to express their gratitude to others by writing a letter of thanks, reflecting on what you appreciate in life or simply saying thank you when people do somethign thoughtful. I personally think every day should be a day of gratitude, hence my With Thanks blog, and that we have the chance in every moment to appreciate where we are in life, what we have, what we've achieved, what we hope to be and the people in our lives who make us happy. You can join the World Gratitude Heartbeat Counter program here. They want people to count their grateful heartbeats daily to achieve a Persistent Positive Pulse. A stationery company in the US has launched the Gratitude Challenge, a 21-day challenge that aims to help you take note of the brighter side of life. And there is an online World Gratitude Gathering here. Today is also the International Day of Peace, a global event that highlights efforts to end conflict, encourages ceasefires and promotes peace.
