About Serene

Serene Conneeley is a Sydney writer with a fascination for history, travel, ritual and the myth and magic of ancient places and cultures. She has written for magazines, from Cosmopolitan and Woman's Day to Spheres and Your Destiny, about travel, spirituality, health, news, social and environmental issues and entertainment, and contributed to books on witchcraft, psychic development and personal transformation, as well as the bestselling history compilation Dateline.
Serene has travelled to some of the most beautiful places on earth, and taken sacred plant medicine with shamans in the Amazon jungle, explored her inner priestess in the mystical isle of Avalon in Glastonbury, meditated in Egypt’s Great Pyramid at dawn on the summer solstice, connected with the volcano goddess to burn away pain in the island paradise of Hawaii, danced within the sacred circle of Stonehenge in the British Isles, walked in the footsteps of kings and queens on a pilgrimage across Spain, and explored the powerful earth energy of Uluru with Anangu elders.
She is a reconnective healing practitioner, and has studied magical and medicinal herbalism, angel therapy, reiki and many other healing modalities as well as politics and journalism. She loves yoga, hiking, reading, rainbows, drinking tea with her friends and celebrating the energy of the moon and the magic of the earth. Her pagan heart blossomed as she climbed mountains, sat in stone circles, wandered through ancient cathedrals and stood in the shadow of the pyramids on her travels, and she’s also learned the magic of finding true happiness and peace at home.
Her first book, Seven Sacred Sites: Magical Journeys That Will Change Your Life, was published in 2008. Her second book, A Magical Journey: Your Diary of Inspiration, Adventure and Transformation, was published in 2009, followed by her CD Sacred Journey: A Meditation to Connect You to the Magic of the Earth. She has just published her third book, a collaboration with friend Lucy Cavendish, called The Book of Faery Magic.
