With thanks...

JUNE 2009
I am grateful for the return of the sun, new energy and new knowledge...

June 21 - Winter solstice...
Today I am grateful for the magic of the winter solstice and the power of the seasons.
For the knowledge we have that has transformed our understanding of these days of ritual and their significance and purpose. I think it's even better that we create the meaning.
And I am grateful to sweet Cynthia, and our fun day, and skipping through the rain and dipping strawberries in chocolate.

Monday June 22
Today I am grateful for Margie and Pete's car, as I made my way to Carlingford for my website design course. I would have loved to have got the train there, reading then walking the last bit, but I didn't really fancy wandering around the unfamiliar streets of Epping at 10pm on my way home...
And driving meant I could listen to Tori Amos's new album there and back, which was as enchanting as one would hope/expect...
I am grateful for a fun day at work at Disney Princess, and the new princess from New Orleans who will be released soon, full of magic and voodoo plotlines and alligators and dancing and jazz...

Tuesday June 23
Today I am grateful for a productive morning spent researching my Harry Potter travel story - I have to add a business/money/success angle to it, and it's fascinating reading about JK Rowling, her writing process and her history. Inspiring too, how often she was turned down and how dedicatedly she stuck to her guns...
I am grateful for night two of my course, and the fact that I'm finding it much easier than some people are, and the amusement of racing ahead and learning new things...
For the new Green Day album, which is full of anger and politics and fiery rebellion... And for my Cutes for buying it for me as a present.
And I am grateful for the fact I could tape the season finale of NCIS and watch it with my Cutes when he got home from work...

Wednesday June 24
Today I am grateful for the wisdom and inspiration in Fiona's messages...
I am grateful for the reports from the book distributor, and Mum (my WA distributor of sorts), and sales of my new book...
I am grateful for the internet, and downloads, cos I had to buy Dreamweaver fast to do my homework, since I'm the only one in the course who doesn't have a PC, and can't use the course-provided program. Suddenly being called Mac Girl doesn't seem quite so cute...
I am grateful to Paulo Coelho, who works tirelessly to make the world a better place, both through his books and also on his website and blogs - the doctor trying to save Neda's life in Iran is a friend of his, and he publicised the issue, while protecting the man's identity, until he could be sure he was safely out of the country. And when the doctor was sure he wouldn't make it out, Paulo promised to look after his family...

Thursday June 25
Today I am grateful to my friend Amanda, who I've known for 20 years, for sharing her new adventure with me, and staying in touch all these years... I got a friend request today from someone from school, and saw photos from when we were kids, which was funny and cute, and kind of odd. It all seems so long ago... and I guess it was!
I am grateful for a cute day with my love, walking into town and back, hand in hand, running errands, drinking chai, generally being happy to be together and in love...
And I am grateful for a productive night of work, while exciting things were happening for Cutes...

Friday June 26
Today I am grateful for a morning of snuggling and tea drinking and kisses with my Cutes.
For his support as I raced against time to get my comp entry ready, and for dropping it into the office at 5.28pm for me as I tried to find a park...
And I am grateful for a fun night of weird dinner, laughter, happy plans and reminiscing with lovely Kylie and a big pot of chai...

Saturday June 27
Today I am grateful (hmm) for a very productive day as I worked on my big assignment for my website course, and that it seems to be making sense, of a sort...
I am grateful that so many people have been asking for my thank you notes, and saying that they make them grateful for the little things in their lives too, and so I thought I'd put them back on here...
I am grateful for the Neil Gaiman book of short stories I started, cos it meant I could read one while I had dinner, then get back to work without getting side tracked. Perfect!
And I am grateful that my love will be home from work soon... I hope!

Sunday June 28
Today I am grateful that I remembered to post this :-)
That it was a beautiful sunshiney day, albeit a slightly chilly one...
That Cutes and I had a lovely morning together, before he had to go to work...
I am grateful for my productive working time, and cups of hot chai...
I am grateful that it is Mum and Dad's 41st wedding anniversary (so sweet)...
And for the big doona I am about to climb under and snuggle up with :-)

Monday June 29
Today I am grateful for the beautiful sunshiney blue-skied day, the light streaming through my office window, turning the crystal into a million dancing rainbows, and the clear crisp air that is so invigorating (and, okay, a little chilly at night!)...
I am grateful for a productive work day, with not *too* much Fairyland :-)
I am grateful for all I learned in my new course, for the incredible sunset over the Anzac Bridge as I headed west, that the traffic wasn't too bad, and that I had twisties for dinner cos I didn't have time to eat...
I am grateful for more book sales, for fun plans with Cynthia, and for an hour of laughing with Cutes til we cried as we watched Good News Week as the clock struck 12...

Tuesday June 30
Today I am grateful for the beautiful half moon that smiled down on me as I left class at 10pm and drove back through the dark streets, staring in wonder at the beauty of the city and the lights on the harbour and the many gorgeous parks...
I am grateful that my course went well, even though we ran out of time and didn't actually get to the "how to upload the site" bit...
I am grateful for a fun day at work with Martini, and cute princess pages...
I am grateful to all the little fairies who watered my fairy garden today...
I am grateful that my last several invoices will be paid tomorrow - guess they were waiting for the new financial year :-)
And I am grateful to my beautiful love, who was so happy to see me when I got home from our long day apart (pesky Hum!), and is so sweet...
